Punishment for Sooryavanshi and Halambage due to the Dambulla incident

It is reported that Sri Lanka 'A' team's Vishen Halambage and India 'A' team's batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi have been recommended for punishment due to a heated situation that arose during the match between Sri Lanka 'A' and India 'A' teams in the tri-nation cricket tournament held in Dambulla last Monday.

Following a review of the incident, the match referee has recommended imposing a 50 percent fine on both players, Halambage and Suryavanshi, from their match fees, NewsWire website reported.

Informed sources state that the match referee's report has already been submitted to the relevant cricket authorities in Sri Lanka and India for further action and consideration.

Since this tournament is not held under the direct supervision of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the final decision regarding the imposed penalties rests with the representatives of the relevant cricket governing bodies and the tournament officials, the sources further revealed.

This incident was reported after Sri Lanka 'A' team secured a thrilling victory against India 'A' team in a super over. Video footage showing the intense verbal exchange and heated situation between Vishen Halambage and 15-year-old Indian batsman Suryavanshi had also been released to the media.

As video footage of this confrontation rapidly circulated among cricket fans in both countries, it also garnered significant discussion and attention on social media platforms.
