Nightclub bouncer arrested with 10 crore worth of drugs

A nightclub security officer (bouncer) was arrested yesterday (11) by a team of officers from the Western Province North Crimes Division with a stock of 'ice' and heroin drugs worth over ten crore rupees. During this raid, 5 kg and 80 grams of 'ice' drug and 1 kg and 25 grams of heroin were taken into police custody from the suspect.

The person arrested in this manner is a 42-year-old individual residing in the Werahera area.

According to police investigations, the arrested suspect is a key close associate of "Homagama Gagana," a powerful drug trafficker and organized criminal. This large-scale drug network was uncovered through interrogations of a person previously caught possessing 50 grams of 'ice' drug. Following these leads, investigations were extended in a chain-like manner, and during raids conducted in Dematagoda and Boralesgamuwa areas, five more suspects were apprehended by the Crimes Division along with 2 firearms.

Acting immediately on further information revealed by those suspects, police officers raided the bouncer's residence in Werahera and discovered this drug stock. The police have already launched a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the identity of the person who supplied this drug stock to the suspect, and arrangements have been made to present the arrested 42-year-old suspect before the court.
