King Charles III of Britain has expressed willingness to provide royal accommodation for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their family members, who are expected to visit the United Kingdom next month. Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on June 17 that Prince Harry, 41, will visit Britain next month with his 44-year-old wife Meghan and their two children for the first time in four years.

Although the 77-year-old King Charles extended this invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their family, it is reported that no response has been received from them as of June 19. Previously, during their visits to the United Kingdom, accommodation at Buckingham Palace had been offered, but they had declined it.

No clear decision has yet been made regarding the security arrangements for the Sussex couple during this upcoming visit in July. Even if they accept the accommodation offered by King Charles, they will not receive additional security, as decisions regarding such security matters are made by the British Home Office. Media attempts to contact the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment on this matter have so far received no response. King Charles and Prince Harry were last seen together publicly on September 19, 2022, at Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral in London.

Following the "Megxit" event, coined after "Brexit" (Britain's withdrawal from the European Union), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left Britain in 2020. They currently reside in California with their 7-year-old son Archie and 5-year-old daughter Lilibet. This will be the first time the entire family has visited Prince Harry's homeland together since June 2022, when they came for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Meghan Markle last visited the United Kingdom in September 2022 only for the Queen's funeral.

Prince Harry has stated that the severe risk to his family's safety and the lack of adequate protection for them on British soil are major reasons for the breakdown with the royal family and for not visiting the country. When he stepped down from royal duties and life in 2020, his security status was downgraded, which resulted in the couple losing police protection funded by taxpayers. Since then, Prince Harry has been engaged in a legal battle to regain his security, but he lost an appeal filed in a British court last year regarding the level of protection he and his family should receive while spending time in Britain.

Prince Harry stated in 2023 that the United Kingdom is his home and the center of his children's heritage, and therefore, Britain, like the United States where they currently live, should be a place where they feel at home. However, he emphasized that this would be impossible if their safety cannot be guaranteed on British soil. Prince Harry further added that he cannot put his wife in such a dangerous situation, and based on his life experiences, he does not wish to unnecessarily put himself in danger.
