The government has decided to completely digitize the process of issuing concessionary railway season tickets for public servants. According to the Ministry of Transport and Highways, under this new system, the facility to obtain the relevant season tickets online through the website www.pravesha.lk will be available from the upcoming July.
To avail this new digital facility, public officials can also use a special mobile application in addition to the aforementioned website. Accordingly, public servants have been given the opportunity to register in this system through the relevant coordinating officers of their respective service institutions, and the application for season tickets for the upcoming July is scheduled to commence from June 15, 2026.
However, it has been made mandatory for all government institutions to register in the relevant access system before providing this facility to their officials. The official registration activities related to this were initiated at a special ceremony held in Battaramulla, presided over by Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Dr. Prasanna Gunasekara.
The Sri Lanka Railways Department and the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development are jointly launching this digitalization program. The main objectives of this initiative are to digitize public sector services, enhance the efficiency of railway services, and provide a higher quality service to passengers.
Speaking at the inaugural event, the Deputy Minister emphasized that the government has currently brought the country's economy to a stable level, and that the government will continue to take steps to enhance the welfare of public servants and strengthen the entire public service.
