Due to the intense international interest in young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who showed outstanding performance in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament, broadcasting companies have been prompted to change their strategies. Accordingly, authorities have taken steps to broadcast live the triangular cricket tournament scheduled to be held in this country with the participation of 'A' teams from India, Afghanistan, and host Sri Lanka.
Suryavanshi's inclusion in the Indian 'A' team has directly influenced this live broadcast decision. The main attraction of the Indian 'A' team, led by Tilak Varma, is the 15-year-old young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He managed to lead the Orange Cap race by scoring 776 runs in the recently concluded IPL tournament, and due to his exceptional performance, the publicity and value of the upcoming triangular tournament have significantly increased.
This triangular tournament is scheduled to be held from June 09 to June 21. Sony Sports Network, the official broadcasting partner of Sri Lanka Cricket, holds the broadcasting rights for cricket matches held in this country, and they have confirmed that they will broadcast the tournament with full live coverage via Sony Sports and Sony LIV.
Sony, which had missed out on live cricket broadcasting opportunities recently due to Jio Hotstar channel acquiring broadcasting rights for major tournaments like the World Cup and IPL, hopes to maximize the benefits from the 'Suryavanshi wave' created in the current cricket world. Additionally, Sony also holds the broadcasting rights for the India-Sri Lanka bilateral series scheduled to be held in late August, while the Lanka Premier League (LPL) tournament, held during that period, is expected to be broadcast via the Jio Hotstar channel.
