The government has taken steps to issue another circular, invalidating a circular issued on the same day regarding the provision of compensation to local businesses affected by Cyclone Dittha. The Organization for Empowering Local Entrepreneurs accuses that this action by the government clearly demonstrates their existing inefficiency and inability.

Commenting on this incident, Mr. Pushpakumara Karunaratne, Secretary of the Organization for Empowering Local Entrepreneurs, stated that although a circular recommending compensation was issued on June 03, 2026, the authorities acted to cancel it with another circular on the very same day. He further pointed out that such dual policies followed by the rulers would further exacerbate the difficulties faced by the local business community, which is already in a severe crisis.

The Secretary, stating that businesses are extremely helpless in the current situation, questions the President regarding the failure to investigate and take action against officials who irresponsibly issue such circulars. He also strongly questioned on what basis the authorities are acting to evade paying compensation to business entities properly registered with the Companies House, which is an official government institution.

The organization emphasizes that such arbitrary decisions taken by the government, changing state decisions issued in the morning by evening, further push the affected people into an abyss. Therefore, they urge the government to immediately take steps to provide compensation to local businesses destroyed by Cyclone Dittha, and the Secretary stated that he expects to meet the President to discuss this issue. He further declared that entrepreneurs are even prepared to remain near the President's office until an official date and time are allocated for the meeting.
