A family dispute escalated, and the wife killed her husband

A family dispute that escalated early this morning (07) at a house in Arakakanda, Mahena, Bellapitiya, Horana, resulted in a woman stabbing and killing her husband with a sharp weapon. The deceased was a 49-year-old father of two, residing in the same Arakakanda area.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police have revealed that the deceased was involved in illegal drug production and frequently caused disputes by harassing his wife and children while heavily intoxicated. A severe argument between the couple had been ongoing inside the house since last night (06), during which the enraged husband attempted to assault his wife with a sharp weapon. Police investigations have further confirmed that the wife, acting quickly, snatched the weapon and used it to strike her husband, committing the murder.

The husband, who sustained serious injuries from the assault, died on the spot. His body is currently being held under police guard at the scene for the magisterial inquiry. The suspect wife has already been arrested by the police in connection with this murder, and further investigations into the incident are being swiftly carried out by the Horana Police.
