Energy Minister Dr. Anura Karunathilaka emphasizes that all necessary steps have already been taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel to Sri Lanka in the coming period. Speaking at a press conference held at the Government Information Department, the Minister stated this, and also confirmed that there will be no fuel shortage in the future as proper orders have been placed for the country's required fuel stocks.
Meanwhile, the Minister also pointed out to the media that the government has no intention of abandoning the currently implemented QR quota system in the near future. The main objective of continuing this system is to control the outflow of foreign exchange, or dollars, from the country and to limit and control unnecessary fuel consumption.
However, Dr. Anura Karunathilaka further stated that attention has already been paid to properly considering the existing public needs and increasing the fuel quota provided to consumers in the future.
