Mahinda to the Bribery Commission

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption a short while ago.

This was to give a statement regarding the alleged incident of accepting a bribe of 2 million US dollars for the purchase of an Airbus.

Mahinda Rajapaksa was summoned to the commission based on the revelation made by Kapila Chandrasena, former Chief Executive of SriLankan Airlines and a key suspect in the related case, that sixty million rupees from the bribe money was given to Mahinda Rajapaksa.

In addition, former Civil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne also appeared before the Bribery Commission. Meanwhile, in connection with the same incident, Willie Gamage, a former board member of SriLankan Airlines, appeared before the commission yesterday (11) morning, gave a statement, and left.
