Death brought the rotten branch that fell on Darshi's head while she was riding the bike.

A woman has died in an unfortunate accident that occurred on the afternoon of the 30th, in the Galewela area on the Nochchiyagama-Kukulkatuwa road. The deceased has been identified as Darshi Kumari Herath, a forty-four-year-old mother of two, residing in Ambagahawewa, Nochchiyagama.

Nochchiyagama Police state that the cause of death was a tree falling on her head while she was traveling on a motorcycle along the road.

On the day of the accident, around 2:00 PM, the woman was traveling from her home to Nochchiyagama town by motorcycle. A decayed tree near the road suddenly fell in the direction she was traveling. Although she was wearing a helmet at the time, a branch of the tree struck it, breaking it and inflicting a fatal blow to her head. A group of people traveling on the road immediately took action and admitted the injured woman to the Nochchiyagama District Hospital, but a hospital spokesperson confirmed that she had already passed away upon arrival.

The post-mortem examination regarding this death was conducted on the 30th at the Nochchiyagama District Hospital. The examination was carried out by Dr. Chinthaka Wijewardena in the presence of Nochchiyagama Inquirer into Sudden Deaths, Mr. Nimal Semasinghe, and evidence was led by Police Sergeant (56411) R. Wimalasena. It was concluded that severe bleeding due to serious head injuries caused by the tree branch was the cause of death, and Nochchiyagama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
