Former Member of Parliament Tissa Kuttiarachchi, severely criticizing the actions of the current government and Minister Bimal Rathnayake, stated that this is not a country belonging to the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), and therefore, one should be extremely cautious about the words used when making statements. Reminding that he too is an ordinary citizen with equal rights in this country, he points out that the current government, which came to power claiming that rulers have no special privileges over the people, has now pushed the common people into extreme helplessness.

"In this government, which came to power promising to be accountable only to the people, claiming that rulers have no privileges that the people don't have, and that they would make the people prosperous, who is being made helpless by the current programs of this government, led by the people's president and the poor's prime minister?

Now, yesterday, I saw Bimal Rathnayake in Parliament saying, 'The opposition shouldn't shout, the opposition shouldn't speak. There is a president and a government in this country given power by the people. The people have given us the power, so the opposition has nothing to say.' He said, 'We will govern the country the way we want, and we have been given the power for that.'

Minister Bimal Rathnayake, I want to remind you of one thing; I am also a Sri Lankan citizen. Put politics aside, please be careful with your words when you speak. This is not a JVP country. This is not Anura Kumara's, Harini's, or Bimal Rathnayake's country. Please remember that too. As the Leader of the House, you can stand in Parliament as part of the government and point fingers at the opposition, but you have no right to point fingers at us as citizens."
