The wad of cash belonging to the Bangladeshi national who came to the rented house in Kalutara was stolen.

North Kalutara Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the theft of a stock of local and foreign currency worth over fifteen lakhs of rupees belonging to a Bangladeshi national who was temporarily residing in a rented house in the North Kalutara area. Information has been reported to the police that another foreigner who was staying in the same house with him and his two foreign female friends have stolen this money and fled.




The Bangladeshi national who faced this incident of losing money is Kamal Hossain Didar. According to the complaint he made to the North Kalutara Police, the total value of the stolen money is Rs. 1,564,487. The complainant further stated that this includes Rs. 13,000 in Sri Lankan currency and USD 4,900.

The complainant arrived in Sri Lanka on the 6th of last month with his foreign friend for a business purpose. Three days after their arrival in the country, the two foreign female friends of the suspect friend also arrived on the island. Subsequently, from the 13th, all four of them rented a house in the Gamunu Mawatha area, North Kalutara, and resided there together.




However, when the complainant woke up from sleep on the afternoon of the 18th, the foreign friend and his two female friends were not in the house. He further stated in his statement to the police that all their belongings, including their personal luggage, had been taken from the house, and the relevant stock of money in his possession had also been taken by them.
