The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has issued a special order to the Secretary-General of Parliament, Attorney-at-Law Kushani Rohanadeera. Accordingly, steps have been taken to immediately suspend the transfer of a high-ranking female officer who was attached to the Institutional Bureau of the Parliamentary Administration Department.

This incident is backgrounded by a recent decision taken by parliamentary leaders. It was recommended to provide transfers for nine employees, including the officer concerned, effective from the 20th of this month. According to that decision, the Secretary-General had arranged to transfer this officer to duties in the Public Petitions Committee.

However, the officer concerned has lodged a complaint or made a request to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption regarding this transfer she received. After considering that request, the Commission acted and officially informed the Secretary-General of Parliament on the 16th that steps should be taken to immediately suspend the said transfer.
