The New People's Front today (23) filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, accusing Agriculture Minister K.D. Lalkantha of illegally using government property.
The complaint states that the Minister has misused this property by residing in the Madivela MP housing complex for about fourteen years. The New People's Front further reveals that Mr. K.D. Lalkantha represented Parliament from December 19, 2001, to February 09, 2010, and thereafter, even during the period he did not hold an MP position, he continuously resided from 2010 to 2024 in house D-10 of the Madivela housing complex, which is exclusively reserved for Members of Parliament.
Representatives of the Front urge the Bribery Commission to immediately launch a comprehensive investigation into how a non-parliamentarian was allowed to use a government official residence for such a long period. They also emphasized to the relevant authorities that the Minister of Agriculture, who is involved in this serious corrupt act, should be immediately arrested and that legal action should be taken against him appropriately.
