I worked to pass and get into campus, but I never thought I'd be number one in the island.

Devendran Thirukumar, a student of Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam, has succeeded in securing the first place island-wide in the Physics stream of the 2025 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination. This is considered a unique educational achievement reported from a challenging area like Kilinochchi.

To congratulate the student on this outstanding achievement, Northern Province Governor Nagalingam Vedanayagam, Kilinochchi District Secretary S. Muralidaran, and District Member of Parliament S. Sridharan visited Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam. There, they expressed their blessings and happiness to the student.

Commenting on Devendran's school life, Mrs. I. Nimal Raj, the Principal of Kilinochchi Maha Vidyalayam, stated that he was not merely confined to academic pursuits. She emphasized that he was an active student who showed high proficiency in sports as well as other extracurricular activities.

Commenting on his unique achievement, student Devendran Thirukumar stated that although he had strong confidence in passing the examination and gaining university admission, he never expected to be the first in the entire island in a difficult subject stream like Physics. Stating that this unexpected achievement brings him great joy, he further mentioned that he expresses his gratitude to his parents, teachers, and everyone else who supported him in achieving such a goal from an area like Kilinochchi.
