A trailblazer on the silver screen, she is repeatedly proving herself to be a woman who fearlessly decides what she wants in real life too.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh officially announced their second pregnancy yesterday (April 19), much to the surprise of their fans worldwide. They revealed this joyous news to the world by sharing a photo on social media of a positive pregnancy test kit held by the tiny hands of their 19-month-old daughter, 'Dua'.
Warm congratulations are already pouring in for Deepika's decision to expect her second child at the age of forty, from numerous Bollywood stars including Priyanka Chopra and Kiara Advani, as well as millions of fans. Although she had previously spoken openly about the health challenges she faced during her first pregnancy and and the difficulties she experienced as a mother, her current efforts to perfectly balance her professional life and motherhood have earned widespread praise.
It is evident from her recent decisions that the arrival of the new guest has not hindered Deepika's cinematic journey. She has decided to continue filming for both massive upcoming films, 'Raaka' with Allu Arjun and 'King' with Shah Rukh Khan, throughout her pregnancy. Her readiness to even shoot certain action sequences in 'Raaka' while adhering to strict health safety measures will undoubtedly bring a novel experience to Bollywood.
However, some decisions she made as a mother, prioritizing her family, also managed to create some controversy within the film industry. When producers rejected her reasonable request for an eight-hour workday, Deepika had to withdraw from two massive films, 'Spirit' and 'Kalki 2898 AD 2'. Although the enraged director of 'Spirit', Sandeep Reddy Vanga, openly accused her via social media, Deepika responded by pointing out that it is regrettable for a woman to face such injustices when advocating for her needs, even though male actors have enjoyed such privileges for years.
Her courageous message to society, stating that she is not bound to work with anyone who does not agree to her suitable terms, will undoubtedly mark the beginning of a change not only in cinema but in society as a whole.
