3-sabaragamu-university-students-went-to-see-bambarakan-and-got-lost

Haldummulla Police report that a group of six students from Sabaragamuwa University, who went to visit Bambarakanda Waterfall, got lost in the forest yesterday (29) afternoon. However, the other three students in the group managed to return safely without any harm.

According to the police, this group of university students first visited Bambarakanda Waterfall and then traveled to the Lanka Ella area, which is about two kilometers upstream. There, due to sudden heavy rainfall in the afternoon, the water level of the waterfall rose rapidly, and a strong current began to flow.

With this sudden situation, three members of the group were able to safely evacuate the area, but the other three students were unable to return due to the strong current and got lost in the jungle. Bandarawela Assistant Superintendent of Police (1) Ruwan Fernando states that Haldummulla Police have already launched a special search operation to find these three lost students.

Accordingly, a team of police officers led by the Acting OIC of Haldummulla Police, Police Inspector Jayaratne, is currently actively engaged in search and rescue operations for these university students.
