Mr. Alireza Delkhosh, the Iranian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, emphasized that the Iranian government is fully prepared to provide assistance to Sri Lanka at any time it is needed. Speaking at a special press conference held at the Iranian Embassy in Colombo, he stated that Sri Lanka is considered one of his country's closest friends.
Accordingly, the Ambassador mentioned that if the Sri Lankan government requests fuel or any other essential goods, his country would take immediate steps to supply them. He also pointed out that the globally important Strait of Hormuz has never been closed to Iran's friendly nations.
Mr. Delkhosh stated that Sri Lanka is a highly respected nation for Iran, and it is not his country's wish to see Sri Lanka in difficulty at any time. The Ambassador also highly appreciated the humanitarian assistance provided by Sri Lanka, which intervened even before Iran made a request, to rescue the crew of the Iranian warship 'IRIS Dena' that sank due to a torpedo attack by an American submarine recently.
Furthermore, the Iranian Ambassador stated at the press conference that the Iranian government is currently ready to provide all necessary facilities for Sri Lankans currently residing in Iran if they wish to return to their homeland.
