A serious accident has occurred at New York's LaGuardia Airport when an Air Canada Express passenger plane, which was moving on the runway, collided with a rescue and fire truck. The aircraft, which arrived from Montreal, Canada, was traveling along the runway at approximately 24 miles per hour when it collided with an airport vehicle that came across its path, forcing authorities to temporarily halt all flight operations at the airport.

Four people were injured in the accident involving this CRJ-900 aircraft, operated by Jazz Aviation, a regional partner of Air Canada. According to reports, the aircraft's main pilot and co-pilot sustained serious injuries, while a police sergeant and an officer on duty in the fire truck suffered fractures and have been hospitalized. Hospital sources have confirmed that their condition is not critical.

Following this accident, the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) immediately took steps to suspend all flights at LaGuardia Airport. Nighttime photos circulating on social media show severe damage to the front section and cockpit of the aircraft, with numerous emergency response vehicles parked around it. Due to this, the New York City Emergency Management Agency has warned the public to use alternative routes, as traffic congestion, road closures, and flight cancellations can be expected around the Queens area.

Even before this accident, operations at LaGuardia Airport had been somewhat disrupted due to adverse weather conditions and a staff shortage caused by a federal funding issue. This airport, used by several major airlines in America, is a key transportation hub that served over 30 million passengers in 2025 alone. However, given the current situation, airport authorities have proceeded to delay or completely cancel all flights scheduled to depart from the airport.
