
A woman has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on the charge of defrauding a lottery ticket worth fifty-six million nine hundred thousand rupees.
This investigation was initiated based on a complaint lodged by a resident of the Kelaniya area with the Commercial Crime Investigation Division 2 of the Criminal Investigation Department. According to the complaint, the individual had given a lottery ticket he purchased to the suspect, a lottery ticket seller, to check if it had won. However, although she stated that the ticket had not won, information later revealed that it had won a massive prize of fifty-six million nine hundred thousand rupees. Following a request for justice regarding this incident, the police arrested the suspect in the Wellampitiya area.
The arrested 43-year-old suspect is a resident of Shell Gas Road, Kuruniyawatta, Wellampitiya. She is currently scheduled to be produced before the court, and further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division (02) of the Criminal Investigation Department.
