Tribute to Lyricist Kumardasa Saputantri

Sri Lanka Citizens' Cooperative Bank organized a special tribute ceremony to honor veteran lyricist Mr. Kumaradasa Saputhanthri, appreciating his invaluable service to the Sri Lankan music field for over five decades. This felicitation ceremony was held with great grandeur on February 14, 2026, at the bank's head office premises.

Mr. Chamika Weerasinghe, Chairman of Sri Lanka Citizens' Cooperative Bank, stated that this tribute ceremony was implemented as the initial step of the bank's newly introduced concept, "Evening with the Legend," or 'An Evening with an Exceptional Sri Lankan,' aimed at appreciating those who have excelled in various fields.

Many veterans representing the arts field, including Dr. Rohana Weerasinghe, Kularatne Ariyawansa, Edward Jayakody, Charitha Priyadarshani Peiris, Nissanka Diddeniya, Janaka Wickramasinghe, Sunil R. Gamage, and Bandula Nanayakkarawasam, participated in this event. Mr. Bandula Nanayakkarawasam delivered a meaningful speech about Mr. Saputhanthri's life journey and beautiful past memories, and the dignity of the ceremony was further intensified by the comments made by the esteemed attendees. The bank, together with all these invitees, paid tribute to him.

Mr. Amila Katuwawala, the Chief Executive Officer of the bank, concluded the event by explaining the future steps and direction of this special series of tribute programs that commenced on that day.
