Three nuns met with an accident at Sooriyawewa

Three Buddhist nuns and another person sustained serious injuries due to a severe road accident that occurred today (31) in the Suriyawewa, Nugekanda area. The person hospitalized with injuries is the driver of the three-wheeler in which the nuns were traveling.

This accident occurred when a three-wheeler, traveling on a side road, suddenly attempted to enter the main road. The three-wheeler collided with a lorry traveling on the main road, and subsequently, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to further collide with another small lorry parked by the roadside.

The severely injured Buddhist nuns and the three-wheeler driver were immediately admitted to the Hambantota General Hospital for treatment with the intervention of local residents.

Police state that the reckless driving of the three-wheeler driver directly contributed to this accident. The Suriyawewa Police have already commenced further investigations into this incident.
