Moratuwa Headquarters Police has launched a comprehensive investigation to arrest two individuals who were digging up the grave of a deceased woman with the intention of stealing the jewelry worn on her body. A resident of Lakshapathiya, Moratuwa, has lodged a complaint with the police regarding this incident.

The complainant stated that after her mother's demise, an imitation necklace, a pair of earrings, and several bangles were placed on the body before burial. When she went to the cemetery to light candles near the grave on the seventh day after her mother's death, she saw two individuals digging up the grave, and as soon as they saw the complainant, the two suspects fled the scene.

Information has also been revealed that the woman's body was placed in a very expensive coffin. The security officer who was on duty at the cemetery in connection with the incident has already been taken into police custody, and the police strongly suspect that the other two suspects who fled are employees of the Moratuwa Municipal Council.

The cemetery security officer who was thus arrested was scheduled to be produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate's Court. Investigations into the incident are being conducted by a team of officers led by Moratuwa Headquarters Police Inspector Mr. Nihal Francis.
