Mr. Vidarshana Kannangara, a member of the Janabalaya Action Committee, expressed these views at a press conference.
"Sajith Premadasa's 'slimy' opposition is now trying to move forward with this crisis. They are continuously trying to create a narrative that a coal problem is emerging with this crisis, and the power of coal energy is diminishing day by day.
We know that no oil tankers will arrive in Sri Lanka on the 23rd and 24th. What happens then is that Naphtha and fuel oil production usually occurs only from the end of the current month to the middle of the next month. These are the conditions required for oil refining.
So, in such a situation, even electricity generation through diesel is done by highly falsifying such matters. The 'slimy' opposition on this ground is trying to play a game that creates unrest, hatred, and anger among the people, to see if they can quickly win an election or gain power through an election.
At the same time, we know that the biggest problem for the Rajapaksas is their fraud and corruption. We saw those things. Now the Rajapaksa family tree is getting entangled in all this corruption and moving forward. We know that in a situation where legal action related to this is being taken in the country, the Rajapaksa faction wants to quickly find a way to escape these corruption charges and get back into a 'safe' position.
Dilith Jayaweera and that opposition are trying to create some kind of conspiracy theory. Their faction is meeting with foreign ambassadors and the Israeli ambassador, trying to see if they can get international intervention against the country.
So, our country has a very despicable opposition like this. At a time when the people should be responsibly united, and when a real alternative should be given to the country, a true opposition should not act in this manner. A true opposition should be in the struggle of how to overcome this crisis and how to create a new mindset among the people to truly overcome this crisis. However, just as this opposition has always done, some are still engaged in a very foolish opposition politics, trying to weaken and overthrow this government by striking it with some kind of club or pebble day after day after this government came into power."
