The Sri Lanka Police has taken steps to introduce a new WhatsApp phone number for the public to provide information, with the aim of suppressing crimes and illegal activities occurring within the Western Province. This was stated by the Police Media Division in a statement.

Accordingly, the WhatsApp number 0777 128 128 has been opened for public use, operating 24 hours a day. The public has the ability to inform this new number via messages about any crime occurring within the Western Province, information related to drug trafficking, as well as all other illegal activities.

The information received in this manner will be directly forwarded to the Special Operations Room established within the office of the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Western Province. Furthermore, the police emphasize that the identity and confidentiality of individuals providing information about crimes through this phone number will be protected to the maximum extent without any issues.
