The Ministry of Digital Economy Affairs states that official complaints have been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department regarding individuals who fraudulently created QR codes for the National Fuel Pass for other people's vehicles under the new fuel issuance system. Its consultant, Mr. Sumudu Ratnayake, pointed out that these frauds were committed by misusing the new system introduced yesterday (19), and that on that day alone, approximately six hundred thousand new QR codes were created within the system.
However, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation emphasizes that fuel distribution through this QR code system is currently progressing very successfully. The corporation further informs that according to these regulations, today (20), fuel will be issued by filling stations island-wide only for vehicles whose license plate's last digit is an even number or zero.
