Following recent military escalations involving the United States and Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has held separate telephone conversations with the Indian and Sri Lankan Foreign Ministers to discuss regional developments.
During these discussions with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Minister Araghchi clarified the situation that has arisen following the military aggression which Iran accuses the United States and Israel of launching against its country. The Iranian Foreign Minister strongly condemned the recent attacks on Iran and called on other governments worldwide and the United Nations to strongly condemn the actions of the United States and Israel.
He also expressed his deep concern regarding the attack targeting Iran's naval vessel 'IRIS Dena' in international waters, approximately 2,000 miles off the Iranian coast, without any prior warning. Mr. Araghchi stated that Iran expects to take action against this attack through legal and international channels via relevant global institutions.
Meanwhile, during the conversation with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, the Iranian Minister expressed his gratitude for Sri Lanka's cooperation in the rescue operation of the sailors on board the attacked vessel 'Dena'. Earlier this week, Sri Lanka deployed its naval assets to assist the distressed Iranian vessel off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, and several rescued sailors were brought ashore for treatment. Both parties also emphasized the importance of continuing diplomatic relations and consultations between the two countries during these discussions.
