Dubai authorities have confirmed that four people were injured when two drones crashed near Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Wednesday morning. As a result of this incident, two Ghanaian nationals and one Bangladeshi national sustained minor injuries, while one Indian national suffered moderate injuries.

However, this incident has not caused any disruption to the airport's daily flight operations, which are running as usual.

After several brief disruptions, operations at Dubai International Airport and DWC were partially restored from March 7. Given the current situation, flight schedules are subject to constant change, so passengers are strongly advised to avoid coming to the airport until their flight is confirmed and notified by the respective airline.

Previously, on March 1, an incident of minor damage to a passenger terminal at Dubai Airport was reported, but emergency response teams were able to bring it under control quickly. With the cooperation of the relevant authorities, the situation was managed, and four airport staff members were injured and referred for immediate medical treatment. However, thanks to pre-prepared emergency action plans, passengers had already been safely evacuated from many terminals, allowing authorities to avert a major crisis.

Dubai International Airport marked its busiest year in history last year, serving 95.2 million passengers, a remarkable 3.1% growth compared to the previous year. This is also considered the highest annual international passenger traffic ever recorded by any airport in the world. Furthermore, December last year became its busiest month in history with 8.7 million passengers, showing an annual growth of 6.1%.

The final quarter of the year also became the busiest fourth quarter in the airport's history, recording 25.1 million passenger arrivals with a 5.9% growth compared to the corresponding period in 2024. During that quarter, the total number of flight movements increased by 5% to 118,000, bringing the total number of flight movements for the past year to 454,800. This is a 3.3% increase compared to the previous year.
