Following the Sri Lankan team's defeat in yesterday's match against New Zealand, former Sri Lanka cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara states that a significant role must be played at all levels to correct the course of cricket in the country. He emphasizes that in a rapidly evolving global cricket landscape, it is impossible to expect different results by repeatedly following old methods.
In a post on the 'X' social media network, he points out that all parties are currently in great pain. He mentions that due to the team's defeat, spectators are deeply disappointed and angry, and players are also under similar severe mental pressure. Mr. Sangakkara states that having been in dressing rooms with such setbacks in the past, he can well understand how difficult that experience is.
However, he reminds that representing one's homeland and its people is a great responsibility as well as a unique privilege. The former captain points out that Sri Lanka has not adapted to new cricket trends at present, and warns that in this situation, there is a serious risk of Sri Lanka being marginalized internationally or becoming a team of no significance.
