Father Cyril Gamini, Media Spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Colombo, stated that various parties are being urged not to attempt to obstruct the investigations into the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday. The Father also said that an independent investigation into the Easter attack is necessary, and some groups are attempting to politicize that investigation. The Father stated this at a press conference held yesterday (26) in Colombo.

Commenting there, Father Cyril Gamini further stated:

'The Easter attack was a brutal attack that claimed 300 human lives. Among them, the majority were those who went to attend the Easter Sunday divine service. Among the deceased are people belonging to every religion and every nationality. This is a massacre. Finding the truth behind this means that anyone will understand that the law in this country is being properly enforced. If there is no proper investigation, what will happen is that some people will not fear the law. That one can commit a crime and hide. Therefore, it proves that there is no fear of committing crimes. We cannot accept this - when we look at those who make such statements and give various interpretations to arrests, we understand what their agenda is. Therefore, there is no need to politicize this. This is an independent investigation conducted by the CID. It is best to allow those investigations to proceed independently.

Otherwise, we see attempts to sabotage these investigations as an injustice done to the victims who were killed and disabled by this attack. Therefore, we urge everyone not to obstruct these investigations. These investigations must proceed. We believe that these investigations will yield some results. Through this, we need to find out whether there was a political conspiracy that many people talk about, and if so, who did it? We must definitely find out why this attack was carried out. And if anyone obstructs that, we see it as a great crime committed against the victims, the Father added.
