Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga strongly accuses the current government of destroying the quality of the remaining public service in the country by replacing qualified and experienced individuals with political allies and party members who lack qualifications and experience. In a special note on her official Facebook account, she points out that it is difficult to run a government without the support of a professional public service.

She warns that the country is in a severe crisis due to two decades of misgovernance, and if the current pattern of governance is not changed, the country will head towards complete anarchy.

She also draws special attention in her note to former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake, who is currently in remand custody in connection with the approval of funds for a foreign trip by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. She assures that Saman Ekanayake, with whom she has worked closely, is an extremely honest public official with high professional competence. The former President points out that while long-term experience may not be essential for political leaders, they must possess unwavering integrity, and in an active democracy, political leaders rely on a professional public service to govern the country.

Quoting an article written by "Vox Civis," she states that the limitation of justice to only a selected few is a serious problem affecting the very foundation of the Sri Lankan state. She recalls that even public uprisings like the "Aragalaya" (struggle) that emerged in the country recently occurred because the people correctly understood the tragic state of governance. Stating that the political literacy of Sri Lankan citizens is at a high level, she emphasizes that the people must question the existing situation and contribute to nation-building by making democratic decisions to free the country from its current state.
