Police in Canada confirm that a series of shootings targeting a school and a house in Western Canada has resulted in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 25 others. Seven people sustained fatal injuries and died in the shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, with six bodies found inside the school and the seventh person dying while being transported to the hospital.

Authorities state that the other bodies were found in a house near the school, and the attacker also died by suicide inside the school.

Police say they have identified the attacker, but the suspect's name or gender has not yet been officially released. However, a security alert issued during the attack described the suspect as "a woman with brown hair, wearing a dress." Police have not yet disclosed information about the firearm used in the shooting or the age ranges of the deceased victims, and the connection between the school and the house involved has not yet been revealed.

Upon learning of this tragic incident, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney decided to suspend his visit to Germany and stated that he was deeply shocked by the horrific shootings that occurred today. British Columbia Premier David Eby noted that police officers arrived at the scene within two minutes of receiving the emergency call, and their swift intervention prevented the tragedy from escalating further. He praised the police officers' quick entry into the school, risking their own lives, as a "heroic act."

Minister of Public Safety Nina Krieger called this the worst shooting recorded in the province's history and stated that mental health counselors have been dispatched to the affected community. At least two of the injured are in serious or life-threatening condition, while approximately 25 others are receiving treatment for general injuries. Police are currently notifying the families of the deceased, and authorities are asking the public for patience as investigations continue.
