The police have obtained a detention order to detain and question for ninety days the former Director of the State Intelligence Service, retired Major General Suresh Salley, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with the investigations into the series of suicide terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday. He was taken into custody by a team of CID officers in the Peliyagoda area on the morning of the 25th.
Major General Tuan Suresh Salley, who joined the Sri Lanka Army on March 16, 1987, has served as the Director of the State Intelligence Service in this country since December 2019. He was informed to resign from his position based on the allegations leveled against him regarding the Easter attacks, but he refused. Due to this, authorities had taken steps to remove him from the post of Director of the State Intelligence Service in late 2024.
