13-year-old child killed in a lorry accident on Udawalawe - Thanamalwila road

A 13-year-old boy has died in a road accident that occurred on Sunday in the Malabotuara area on the Udawalawa - Thanamalwila road, which belongs to the Udawalawa Police Division.

Police say that the accident occurred when a lorry traveling from Barrier Junction towards Thanamalwila collided with the child who was walking by the roadside.

Although steps were immediately taken to admit the child, who sustained serious injuries in the collision with the lorry, to Udawalawa Hospital, he died after being hospitalized. The deceased child has been identified as a resident of the Udawalawa area.

The driver of the lorry that caused the accident has been arrested by the police, and further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Udawalawa Police.
