Attention has been drawn to an ultra-luxury motor car imported into Sri Lanka by Mr. Dudley Sirisena, a prominent figure in the country's business sector. The uniqueness of this vehicle, which belongs to the Rolls-Royce Phantom 8 Series 2 EWB model, is that it is one of only 25 limited edition cars produced worldwide to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rolls-Royce company.
It is reported that the base price of this limited edition vehicle, produced targeting billionaires and car collectors worldwide, ranges between US$550,000 and US$600,000, and with additional features, its final price can go up to US$750,000 to US$950,000. Including applicable taxes, the local value of this vehicle is estimated to exceed 2.5 billion Sri Lankan Rupees, and it is considered the most valuable and luxurious motor car ever imported into Sri Lanka.
Looking back at the history of Rolls-Royce, the first Phantom was produced in 1925, and with a century of technological evolution, it has now become the world's number one luxury motor car. This vehicle, belonging to the eighth generation Phantom, which began production in 2017, is equipped with a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, similar to BMW engine technology.
The famous 'Spirit of Ecstasy' emblem mounted on the bonnet of this car, crafted from 18-carat gold and polished with 24-carat gold plating, clearly demonstrates its luxury. Equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission system, this vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Manufacturers state that over 40,000 man-hours were spent over a period of three years to develop one such vehicle, and it provides an extremely comfortable journey, like riding on a magic carpet.
