Katunayake bomb scare

Police sources confirm that a special investigation, conducted based on information received about a potential bomb attack targeting an aircraft arriving in the island from Doha, Qatar, found no explosives or suspicious individuals inside the plane. An email message had been received by authorities stating that four individuals disguised as ordinary passengers were traveling on the said aircraft, and that they planned to detonate bombs and commit suicide.Following this warning message, security forces and airport authorities immediately took action to subject the aircraft to a thorough search. These inspections were carried out in accordance with international standards to ensure passenger safety, and no suspicious items that could pose a threat were discovered. Commenting on the incident, a senior police officer stated that investigations were conducted very meticulously based on the information received, and that no such dangerous situation existed inside the aircraft. However, he further added that maximum security measures were taken for the safety of the airport and passengers.
