The father who distributed drugs for 'Dum' in Dubai was arrested with a crore worth of heroin.

Kurukulasuriya Lasantha Pradeep Fernando, father of the main drug trafficker Oshada Fernando alias 'Dum', who operates drug trafficking from hiding in Dubai, was arrested by the Negombo Police Criminal Investigation Division yesterday (3) afternoon. 503 grams of heroin with a street value of nearly one hundred lakhs (10 million) rupees and 14 lakhs (1.4 million) rupees suspected to have been earned from drug trafficking were found in his possession.

This raid was carried out based on information received by Police Inspector Chamara Pradeep, the OIC of the Criminal Investigation Division. The 49-year-old suspect was thus arrested by the police in the Katuwapitiya area.

Investigations reveal that the suspect's main role was to convert the heroin supplied in bulk by his son, the drug trafficker 'Dum', into small packets of the specified quantity at locations he indicated.

12 bank cards suspected to have been used for drug transactions, three mobile phones, a small electronic scale, a three-wheeler, and a van were also taken into police custody from the suspect's possession.

Police state that investigations conducted so far have revealed that the suspect was involved in this trafficking operation while residing in a house on Katuwapitiya Road on a monthly rent of one lakh (100,000) rupees.
