Sri Lankan government's statement on the Venezuela invasion

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism announced today (January 05, 2026) that the Government of Sri Lanka has paid close attention to the recent events and the prevailing situation in Venezuela and is carefully monitoring the developments there.

Sri Lanka particularly emphasizes the importance of acting in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter. The statement highlights that principles such as refraining from the use of force, non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, peaceful settlement of international disputes, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states must be upheld.
