The inaugural ceremony of the film 'Eda Rae', based on the life story of veteran singer Milton Mallawarachchi, who was revered as an exceptionally beloved voice in the chronicle of Sinhala music, was held recently. Milton, bestowed with the title "Prince of Tragic Songs," made a unique contribution to shaping a golden era of Sinhala music, touching millions of hearts over several decades.
This film, based on his life story filled with enthusiasm and artistry, is a creation that equally celebrates his musical genius and human qualities.During Milton Mallawarachchi's musical journey, spanning from the 1960s to the 1990s, he sang over eight hundred and fifty songs, which remain immortal masterpieces in the hearts of the people even today. Through creations like 'Eda Rae', 'Madhu Mala', 'Me May Gaha Yata', 'Oruwaka Pawena', and 'Kandu Para Aetha Ayine', sung in his melodious voice, love, hope, and sensitivity are beautifully portrayed. This film unravels his journey, not merely confined to his musical career, but also encompassing the personal sacrifices he faced as an artist, social challenges, and his path amidst the rapid changes in the entertainment industry.

This film is produced by Messrs. Ranil Mallawarachchi, Dr. Arosha Fernando, and Chamaka Manjula on behalf of One Line Production & Entertainment (Private) Limited. The story of this film, directed by Aruna Jayawardena, was written by Dhammika Salwathura, while the screenplay and creative design were done by Suneth Malinga Lokuhewa. Channa Deshapriya contributes as the director of photography, Shan Alwis as the editor and colorist, and Suresh Maliyadde has composed the background music. Additionally, Akuramboda Piyatissa joins as the art director and Pavithra Abeysinghe for costume design.
A host of actors and actresses, including Roshan Ravindra, Nethmi Roshel, Senali Fonseka, Sheshadri Priyasad, Dineth De Silva, and Prasanna Dekumpitiya, contribute to the main roles.
