'I came this morning, rushing here to face the no-confidence motion. Why aren't they bringing it? What a waste!'

Today, in Parliament, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya spoke about the no-confidence motion that the opposition said they would bring against her, which has now been abandoned due to signature issues and internal conflicts. This is what she said.

"There was an issue with the first module of the sixth grade. We accepted that mistake. We took responsibility for that mistake and immediately acted to correct it. That is what a responsible government should do. Correcting it is our responsibility. It is with that responsibility that we are carrying out these activities. But what did the opposition try to do here? Without any knowledge or understanding of the content, they tried to highlight that matter in a very hateful manner.

These people are always trying to overthrow this government. I even saw them say that it's not April anymore, but by December, a new president will come. According to them, they said they would remove the Prime Minister, and the motion brought for that purpose was also withdrawn and postponed.

I am waiting for that. I am waiting for that no-confidence motion to come. If you can't remove the President, at least try to remove the Prime Minister. But there's no such attempt. So, I came running this morning, thinking I would face this no-confidence motion.

It's a shame, we were ready for it. I'll tell you that too. You all should bring that no-confidence motion. If the people of this country decide that this Prime Minister should change, we are ready to go home. We are accountable to the people of this country and our conscience. That's how we operate.

Honorable Speaker, the education reforms we are introducing today are suitable for the modern world. Today's world is extremely complex. It is changing rapidly in ways that no one can control. Not only countries like ours, but even so-called developed countries are talking today about the directions in which education should change.

While we are engaged in such an extremely serious discussion, there is no point in having such childish, trivial discussions. Honorable Speaker, especially within this Parliament, an advanced discussion is needed here. We are always ready to have that advanced discussion. For that, I propose that we thoroughly examine the content, study what is happening in the world, and engage in this dialogue seriously, without merely picking up a few superficial words. Thanking you for the time given to me, I will now be silent.

Thank you very much."
