The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government has introduced a special relief program for Muslim public servants for the upcoming Ramadan fasting season. Accordingly, the Ministry has instructed all government institutions to implement a flexible shift system to facilitate Muslim public officials observing the Ramadan fast to engage in their religious practices.
The Ministry has taken steps to circulate this directive to Ministry Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Heads of Departments, as well as Heads of State Corporations and Statutory Boards. The relevant circular states that this year's Ramadan fasting period is from February 19 to March 21, and heads of institutions have been informed to arrange work schedules to enable Muslim employees to perform their necessary religious duties during this period.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasizes that special leave during this period should only be approved in essential and unavoidable circumstances. Instead, the relevant circular further instructs that priority should be given to covering duties by adjusting work schedules and providing necessary facilities to employees.
