Information has been revealed to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) regarding a large-scale human trafficking operation, allegedly run by a Sri Lankan residing in a foreign country, promising jobs in Moldova. It is reported that this individual, known by the alias "Dubai Sudda," has been operating this racket by releasing video clips on his personal social media accounts, and that many individuals who have paid him money and been victimized are currently submitting complaints to the Bureau.

The Bureau is currently taking necessary legal action against him, and the public is urged to immediately report to the Bureau if there are others who have fallen victim to this racket.

According to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Act No. 21 of 1985, it is mandatory to obtain a license for recruiting, advertising, collecting money, gathering information, or obtaining passports for employment outside Sri Lanka. Engaging in such activities without a license is a serious offense punishable by severe penalties. With the aim of curbing such human traffickers, a special police unit has been established within the Bureau under the instructions of Minister Vijitha Herath, and it is mentioned that this unit has received a large number of such complaints.

Currently, a trend has emerged where Sri Lankans working in foreign countries are using new social media trends and their personal accounts to promise foreign jobs and defraud money. These individuals gain the trust of job seekers and have money deposited into their personal bank accounts, and in some cases, they also present fake employment contracts and fake visa documents. After receiving the money, they disable their phones and social media accounts, disappearing without a trace, making it impossible to find any information. Therefore, the Bureau has now taken steps to strictly enforce the law against such fraudsters, regardless of their status.

Therefore, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment strongly emphasizes to job seekers to only engage through approved and registered foreign employment agencies of the Bureau for obtaining foreign employment, and to refrain from giving money or passports to illegal intermediaries.
