A large-scale cattle slaughterhouse in Galle was raided

Six individuals, including the owner of a cattle slaughterhouse that had been operating illegally for a long time on Olcott Mawatha in Galle, have been arrested by the Panadura Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force during a raid.




During this raid, conducted yesterday morning, the carcasses of three slaughtered cows and four buffaloes were found.

Police state that this cattle slaughterhouse was operating secretly without any approval from a Public Health Inspector or a veterinary surgeon. 2100 kg of beef, suspected to be unfit for human consumption, was also taken into police custody.




Furthermore, investigations have revealed that these individuals had been selling buffalo meat as beef in various areas of the Southern Province.

Among the arrested suspects is the 33-year-old owner of the slaughterhouse, a businessman residing on Olcott Mawatha, Galle, bringing the total number of individuals taken into police custody to six.



Police further state that these suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Galle Magistrate's Court.
