Zelensky: The story about Ukrainian drone attacks on Putin's Russian house is a lie

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vehemently rejected Russia's serious accusations that a drone attack targeted one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's official residences. The Ukrainian President accuses Russia of making these false accusations with the aim of disrupting and misleading the peace negotiation process.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had stated that 91 long-range drones were used to launch a night attack on Putin's state residence in Russia's northwestern Novgorod region.

Following this incident, Russia has stated that it will reconsider its stance on peace talks, and it has not yet been confirmed whether President Putin was at the residence at the time of the attack. The Russian Foreign Minister, in a Telegram message, stated that all drones launched were successfully destroyed by Russian air defense systems, and no casualties or property damage were reported from the incident. However, he further added that Russia does not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process with the United States.

President Zelenskyy, calling this Russian statement "a typical Russian lie," points out that it is merely an excuse fabricated by the Kremlin to launch further attacks against Ukraine. Recalling that Russia had previously attacked government buildings in Kyiv, he emphasized in a post on his 'X' account that the world should not remain silent at this moment and that Russia should not be allowed to undermine efforts for lasting peace.

It is noteworthy that this crisis situation has arisen after crucial discussions held in Florida between US President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian President. A new peace plan to end the war was discussed there, and Zelenskyy later told Fox News that there is a possibility of ending the war by 2026. However, he further stated that Ukraine cannot win the war without American support and that he has no trust in Putin.

During the discussions, the United States proposed providing Ukraine with a 15-year security guarantee, and President Trump states that about 95% of that agreement has now been completed. However, territorial issues such as the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is occupied by Russia, and the future of the Donbas region remain unresolved. Currently, about 75% of the Donetsk region and 99% of the Luhansk region are under Russian control, and Russia had previously rejected key parts of this peace plan.

Meanwhile, the White House stated that a phone conversation took place between President Trump and Putin after the incident. The Kremlin says that Putin pointed out that this attack occurred immediately after a round of talks that the US considered successful. Although Trump initially stated that he was angered by this news, he later responded to a question from journalists by saying that he had not yet seen independent evidence that the attack actually happened. "Maybe the attack didn't happen, but Putin told me it did," Trump commented.
