A multi-day voyage with a large consignment of drugs from the southern coast of Divaina was intercepted by the Navy this morning (24) and the consignment was brought to the port. The Navy announced that the voyage reached the port at 6.00 am today. Five people on board the voyage have been taken into Navy custody.
The Navy announced that the drug consignment seized from this voyage contained 110 kg of ice and heroin. Navy Media Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath stated yesterday (23) that a multi-day voyage carrying a large quantity of drugs from the southern coast of the country and five individuals on board were taken into custody.
This interception is the result of a special operation carried out by the Navy for several days in the southern seas. The Navy Media Spokesperson further stated that this multi-day voyage was intercepted by the Navy based on intelligence information. According to Navy sources, the drug consignment brought to the international maritime border by an Iraqi vessel was loaded onto this multi-day voyage.
Following the interception of the drug consignment and the five individuals, the Navy further announced that arrangements have been made to hand over the suspects to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
