Sri Lankan Minister Explores PPP Healthcare Models at India's Apollo Hospitals

The High Commission of India in Colombo reported that Sri Lanka's Minister of Health and Mass Media, Hon. Nalinda Jayatissa, visited India with a delegation to participate in the Second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine, held in New Delhi, India, from December 17 to 19.




The theme of this summit, held at Bharat Mandapam, was “Restoring Balance: The Science and Practice of Health and Well-Being.” It was jointly organized by the World Health Organization and the Indian Ministry of AYUSH.

During the summit, Minister Jayatissa participated in a ministerial-level roundtable discussion. There, he made a statement, commenting on Sri Lanka's long-standing experience and traditions in Ayurveda and traditional wellness practices.




During his stay in India, the Sri Lankan Minister held bilateral discussions with India's Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Anupriya Patel, and the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of AYUSH, Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav. The main objective of these discussions was to strengthen cooperation in the fields of healthcare and traditional medicine. Key areas of focus included regulatory cooperation, research partnerships, and capacity-building programs.

Concurrently with the program, the Minister also visited Apollo Hospitals. The purpose of this visit was to study Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models and review best practices in healthcare delivery.
