NBRO Extends Landslide Warning for Kandy and Nuwara Eliya

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) announced that the landslide warning previously issued for the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts has been further extended due to the heavy rainfall received in recent days.

Accordingly, red notices have been issued for the evacuation of people under the third stage for eight Divisional Secretariat divisions in both Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, stated Mr. Suminda Ratnayake, a geologist at the National Building Research Organisation.

The Divisional Secretariat divisions for which these red notices have been issued include Doluwa, Ududumbara, Minipe, and Medadumbara in the Kandy District, and Maturata, Nildandahinna, Hanguranketha, and Walapane in the Nuwara Eliya District.

Furthermore, Mr. Suminda Ratnayake mentioned that notices have been issued for thirty-five Divisional Secretariat divisions across five districts to remain vigilant under the second stage.
