Special Advance Payment for Government Employees Ahead of Festive Season

 The official circular regarding the payment of a special advance amount not exceeding Rs. 4,000 to government employees, based on the upcoming festive season, has now been issued.

It is reported that this special circular, issued under the signature of Mr. S. Alokabandara, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, has been forwarded to all Ministry Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries, and Heads of Departments.

This annual traditional advance payment process commences on the first day of January each year, and

the responsible divisions must ensure that these payments are concluded by the last day of February of the respective year, as stated in the series of instructions.

Furthermore, the circular issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration states that when recovering this advance payment obtained by public officials, an annual interest rate of 8 percent will be applied, and the amount should be recovered from the salary in ten equal monthly installments.
