President Orders Arrest of Those Who Spread Kotmale Dam Burst Rumors

 President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued special instructions to Central Province Governor Professor Sarath Abeykoon to immediately investigate who was responsible for spreading false rumors on the night of the 30th, claiming that the Kotmale Reservoir dam would burst, thereby causing severe public unrest.

The President issued these instructions during a special "Zoom" technical discussion held yesterday (01) with provincial governors.

Speaking further, the President emphasized that he has already informed the Inspector General of Police and intelligence agencies to immediately investigate who released this false rumor into society.

Meanwhile, the Central Province Governor stated that a misconception had spread in society that a siren had been sounded at the Kotmale Reservoir, and that he had ordered the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Central Province to immediately investigate this incident.
