Police Issue Notice to Drivers on Reopened Hatton-Colombo Road

 Traffic on the Hatton - Colombo main road, which was obstructed due to landslides caused by adverse weather conditions, has now been reopened. However, the police have issued a special notice to drivers using this road, urging them to refrain from stopping vehicles for any reason in areas where landslides have occurred.

The police emphasize that there is still a risk of further landslides in these areas, and therefore, stopping vehicles or travelling on foot through these locations could be dangerous.

Meanwhile, the road extending from the Hatton - Colombo main road towards Nuwara Eliya and Nawalapitiya is also open for traffic.

Repair work on the damaged section of the Nawalapitiya - Gampola main road near the Gal Bokkuwa area is currently underway. However, the police further state that the Gampola - Nuwara Eliya main road, as well as roads leading to Kothmale and Walapane areas, are still not open for vehicular traffic.
